How to Get Started

Charge the reader using the enclosed charging cable. You can connect the reader and charging cable to a USB port. A full charge will be obtained in approximately 2 hours

  • Step 1 Set Up a Global Payments Merchant Account

    To apply for a Global Payments merchant account, visit the Online Application. You will need your bank account and routing number to complete the application. Upon approval, you will receive a welcome email with a 5 digit activation code.

    When you accept a card payment from a customer, you’re responsible for the safety and security of their card details. You have to know that everything’s being done right as you’ll have to demonstrate compliance to several strict criteria.

  • Step 2 Download and Install the Mobile Pay App

    Download the app from the link included in your welcome email or using the following links. For Android™ smartphones and tablets, download the app at For Apple® smartphones and tablets, download the app at You may also search for ‘Mobile Pay by Global Payments’ in the App Store® or Google Play™ and download the app.

  • Step 3 Activate Account

    Open the Mobile Pay app and click ‘Activate Account.’ Here you will enter the 5 digit activation code you received via email and follow the prompts to set up your password and security questions.

  • Step 4 Pair the Reader

    Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device, and press the power button to turn on the card reader.

    1. Open the app and login using your credentials.
    2. For iOS: Select More from the bottom menu.
      For Anddroid: Select the menu icon in the top left.
    3. Select Settings.
    4. Select Card Reader.
    5. Under Bluetooth Readers, select the serial number associated with your card reader. (The serial number can be found on the back of your reader.)
    6. The green LED on the reader will turn on when pairing is complete.
  • Step 5 Accept Payments

    Swipe or insert the card when prompted by the Mobile Pay app.

    **For EMV® transactions, leave the card in the reader until the payment application prompts you to remove the card.

Card Reader LED Indicators

  • All LEDs off - button release to power down

  • Red LED on - device starting up/charging battery

  • Red LED off - fully charged

  • Red LED flashing - low battery

  • Green LED on - Bluetooth is connected

  • Green LED flashing - standby mode/waiting to connect to Bluetooth


Issue Recommended Action
Device cannot be paired
  • Press the power button to restart your device.
  • Check if you can find the device's serial number (shown on the back of the device) in the Bluetooth Reader lists in the app.
Device cannot read your card successfully
  • Check if the device has power when operating and ensure devices are connected.
  • Check if the application instructs to swipe or insert card.
  • Ensure there is no obstacle in the card slots.
  • Check if the magstripe or chip of the card is facing the right direction when swiping or inserting card.
  • Swipe or insert card with a more constant speed.
Device lost connection with smartphone or tablet when the device is auto-off
  • Press the power button to turn on the device again. The device will automatically connect with your smartphone or tablet again.
  • The device may be at lower battery level, please use the USB cable to recharge it, then retry.
  • Ensure the device or smartphone/tablet is within the reception range.
Device does not work with phone or tablet
  • Ensure the Bluetooth function of your smartphone or tablet is turned on.
    Device has no response
    • Use a paper clip to press the reset button at the bottom for reboot.
